English: These are web versions of the 12"x18" prints of my first exhibition. It took place from September 26th to November 1st 2009 at Neuville local library. The theme was "Neuville seen differently" and the photographs were selected to represent Neuville characteristics, in particular the historic architecture, nature at Marais Léon Provancher and the St-Laurent River. Other criteria for selecting my photographs were the diversity of colors, of distances, of orientation. I also decided not to use winter photographs. I gave a title to each photograph as well as subtitles to give hints about the location where the photos were taken. It was very successful (well over 500 attendants) and I sold my first 7 photographs during this exhibition.

Français: Voici les versions web des photographies grand format 12"x18" de ma première exposition. Elle eut lieu du 26 septembre au 1er novembre 2009 à la bibliothèque de Neuville. Le thème de l'exposition était "Neuville vu autrement" et les photographies ont été sélectionnées pour représenter différentes caractéristiques de Neuville, en particulier son architecture historique, la nature du marais Léon Provancher et le fleuve St-Laurent. D'autres critères de sélection furent les couleurs, les distances, les orientations. J'ai également décidé de ne pas inclure de photographies hivernales. J'ai donné un titre à chaque photographie ains qu'un sous-titre pour donner un indice de l'endroit photographié. Ce fut un bon succès avec plus de 500 visiteurs et j'y ai vendu mes 7 premières photographies !

Marais Leon-Provancher Natural Reserve

Français: Cette réserve naturelle, située à Neuville (Quebec, Canada), est à l'origine de ma venue à la photographie comme loisir, plus particulièrement la photographie d'oiseaux. Maintenant, je commence à photographier d'autres éléments du Marais et cette série de photographies va s'enrichir de semaine en semaine de photographies prises soit sur le territoire de la réserve ou à moins de 200 mètres de la réserve (ce qui inclut ma cour arrière). Sur le plan purement technique, la photographie d'oiseaux représente un très grand défi (équipement, camouflage, technique d'approche, post-traitement) et le tout doit être complété par beaucoup de patience et de chance. Bonne visite et revenez régulièrement !

English: this reserve is my motivation to adopt photography as a hobby, in particular bird photography. Now, I also take photographs of other elements of the Reserve and consequently this gallery increase week after week of photos taken within the reserve or within a 200 meters buffer (which includes my home backyard). Technically, bird photography is a big challenge (equipment, camouflage, approach technique, post-processing) and it must be completed by a lot of patience and luck. Have a good visit in this gallery and come back regularly !

These photographs present my village, that is Neuville, next to Quebec City, Canada. I live there since 1986 while I was born close by, in St-Raymond, and work in Quebec City. This gallery focuses on Neuville while other galleries present photographs of Portneuf County and Quebec City with its surroundings. This region is at the hearth of French settlements in the early 1600s and full of historic buildings.

Neuville, it is the St-Lawrence River and its 5 meters tides, it is History and the Chemin du Roy, it is agriculture and the famous Neuville Sweet Corn, it is the green trail (biking) and blue trail (kayaking) and above all, it is one of the nicest villages in Quebec. Enjoy !

Ces photographies présentent mon village, soit Neuville, près de la ville de Québec, Canada. J'y habite depuis 1986, mais je suis né tout près, à St-Raymond, et je travaille à Québec. Cette galerie présente Neuville alors que d'autres de mes galeries présentent le comté de Portneuf et la ville de Québec et ses environs. J'ai également une gallerie uniquement pour la réserve naturelle du Marais Léon Provancher, localisée ici à Neuville. Cette région est au coeur de la collonisation française du début des années 1600, elle regorge de bâtiments et sites historiques.

Neuville, c'est le fleuve St-Laurent et ses marées de 5 mètres, c'est l'histoire et le Chemin du Roy, c'est l'agriculture et le fameux "maïs de Neuville", ce sont les pistes verte (vélo) et bleue (kayak) et surtout, c'est un des plus beaux villages du Québec. Profitez de ces photos !

English: These are my first attempts at photographying an airshow. I'm not a fan of such polluting activity, but I must admit I was impressed and I knew it would be a challenging event to learn new techniques. Shots were taken during the day, the evening, sunset and at night. The pyrotechnic show was particularly impressive.

Français: Voici mes premiers essais à un spectacle aérien. Je ne suis pas fanatique de telles activités polluantes, mais celle-ci s'annonçait impressionnante et je savais que ce serait tout un défi pour apprendre de nouvelles techniques photographiques. Les photos furent prises le jour, en soirée, au coucher du soleil et la nuit. Le spectacle pyrotechnique fut particulièrement impressionnant.

Quebec 2008 Fireworks/Feux d'artifice Québec 2008

Quebec City, July 3rd 2008, for the 400th Anniversary of the City. The largest fireworks to ever take place in Canada history (25000 bombs over the 1km wide St-Lawrence River, in front of the Chateau Frontenac; that is the total of the fireworks of Vancouver + Toronto + Ottawa altogether).

These photographs are amongst my very first attempts at landscape/seascape photography. Some may look "cliché" or could be improved, but I hope you will enjoy them !

Magdelen Islands are known for having the nicest seashores and beaches on the East coast of North America (over 300km). Dunes, beaches, red cliffs, lagunes, sands and rocks of different colors, light houses, fishing, colored houses, the sea and incredible sunsets make these islands a photographer's dream ! Furthermore, the "madelinots" are wonderful people !

Ces photographies sont parmi mes premier essais de paysages. Certaines peuvent avoir l'air "cliché" ou peuvent être améliorées, mais j'espère que vous allez les aimer!

Les Iles-de-la-Madeleine sont un endroit de rêve pour un photographe: dunes, plages, escarpements d'un rouge vif, lagunes, rochers et sables de différentes couleurs, phares, pêcheurs, maisons colorées, la mer et d'incroyables couchers de soleil. De plus, les Madelinots sont très accueillants !

Australia State of Victoria

FRANCAIS: Bienvenue à cette courte visite photographique de l'État de Victoria, dans la région la plus au sud de l'Australie continentale, au sud de Melbourne. Malgré qu'il pleuvait presque toujours les 2 journées où j'ai visité cette région, cela m'a donné l'opportunité de photographier des paysages très impressionnants, surtout dans l'immensité du Great Ocean Road. Les animaux furent photographiés surtout à Tower Hill Reserve ou sur Phillip Island. Bonne visite!

ENGLISH: Welcome to this short visit to the State of Victoria, in the most southern part of continental Australia, around Melbourne. Although it was raining most of the time during the 2 days I had to visit the area, it gave me the opportunity to make photographs of a very impressive area: The Great Ocean Road and Tower Hill Reserve. What an impressive area ! I also have a few photographs from Phillip Island. Enjoy !

English: Here is the most magical place of our trip in the canyons area. Such slot canyons reflect the sun light in subtil and surprising ways on the red walls sculpted by water. A "must see once in a lifetime" ! But, a real challenge for photography (don't forget your tripod and better act fast as the Navajo guide won't wait much for you... since there are tours especially for photographers which must be booked in advance).

Français: voici l'endroit le plus magique du voyage dans la région des canyons. Ces "slot canyons" propagent la lumière du soleil de façon subtile et surprenante sur ces murs rouges sculptés par l'eau. A voir absolument ! C'est cependant tout un défi pour la photographie.

English: A few shots taken when we arrived (just before sunset) and when we left (early in the morning). This is a wonderful place. We slept in the hotel (see one of the photos) in the National Park, near Page.

English: Bryce Canyon is very unique and has a very different personality than the other canyons. Unfortunately, we couldn't be there at sunrise or sunset for the best views, and we didn't have enough time to walk down the canyon. Nevertheless, we appreciated it very much and hope you enjoy these photos.

Malheureusement, nous n'avons pas pu y être en temps pour voir les jeux d'ombre et de lumière causés par les levers et les couchers de soleil. Zion National Park, Utah

English: This is a wonderful park. We had less than half a day for visiting as we were on our way from Bryce Canyon to Las Vegas. We took the free shuttle forth and back, without stopping. Several of these pictures were taken from the window of the bus using a 10mm focal length for larger view and easier focusing. Other photos were taken on the road towards or from Zion. Hope to go back one day for a longer period. In the meantime, enjoy these photographs.

Français: Ce parc est magnifique. Malheureusement, nous y avions moins d'une demi-journée puisque nous étions sur notre route vers Las Vegas depuis Bryce Canyon. Nous avons donc pris la navette du parc pour un aller-retour sans arrêt. Plusieurs photos ont été prises à partir de la fenêtre de la navette avec un très grand angle (10mm). Les autres photos ont été prises sur la route en arrivant ou en quittant Zion. Bonne visualisation.

English: Here you find my best photographs of this wonderful national park. A few photos were taken on the road between San José and Tortuguero. The diversity of animals and plants is impressive in this jungle: birds, monkeys, crocodiles, snakes, exotic frogs, crabs an even humans (Ah! Ah! Ah!). It is well worth a visit (mine was a one-day trip from San José). Enjoy!

Arenal Volcano & Spa, Costa Rica

English: Well... this is what looks this Volcano when the weather is not favorable, which apparently often is the case there. Nevertheless, I spent a good time at the Spa where water is heated by the volcano. Enjoy the vegetation ! There are also a few photos taken at a market on the road to Arenal Volcano.

Français: Eh bien... voici ce à quoi ressemble ce volcan quand la température n'est pas favorable, ce qui semble fréquent à cet endroit. Néanmoins, j'ai eu une belle journée au Spa où l'eau est chauffée par le volcan. Profitez de la végétation ! Il y a aussi quelques photos prises à un petit marché sur la route.

Peggy's Cove, NS, Canada

English: Peggy's Cove is a small fishers village, close to Halifax in Nova-Scotia, Canada, with a population of about 50 . Located on the Atlantic shore, it is a highly charming destination that is popular with photographers. These pictures were taken 4 days apart under very different weather conditions. The results show two views characterizing such coastal villages: sunny and foggy. I hope you'll enjoy this gallery!

Français: Peggy's Cove est un petit village de pêche proche d'Halifax en Nouvelle-Écosse, Canada. Sa population est d'une cinquantaine d'habitants. Situé sur la côte Atlantique, c'est un endroit très charmant et populaire auprès des photographes. Ces photographies ont été prises avec 4 jours de différence sous des conditions météorologiques très différentes. Les résultats montrent deux ambiances très représentatives de tels villages côtiers: ensoleillée et brumeuse. J'espère que vous aller apprécier cette gallerie!

English: The Sea-to-Sky road that goes from Vancouver to Whistler is, from my point of view, one of the nicest routes in the world. In fact, I find the road more interesting than Whistler or Vancouver in spite of beautiful vista from these two places. The following photos give an idea of some places along this route such as Horseshoe Bay Park and village, Shannon and Brandywine falls, Howe Sound and Tantalus Park mountains to name a few.

Français: La route Sea-to-Sky qui va de Vancouver à Whistler est à mon avis une des plus belles routes au monde. En fait, je trouve que cette route est plus intéressante que Whistler en soi, malgré la vue magnifique qui s'offre à nous au haut de la montagne. Ces quelques photos vous donnent une idée de quelques endroits le long de cette route tels que Horseshoe Bay Park et village, les chûtes Shannon et Brandywine, Howe Sound les montagnes de Tantalus Park pour n'en nommer que quelques-uns.

Quebec Cirque du Soleil

English: These are a few photos of the fantastic Street Event "Les Chemins Invisibles" of the Cirque du Soleil presented in Quebec City. This 90 minutes show takes place downtown in the streets and under a highway where the pillars were already painted by artists. It is free and goes on 5 evenings per week for every Summer from 2009 to 2013. The Cirque du Soleil is a Quebec company that started here and it celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2009. This show is really fantastic and one more reason to appreciate Quebec City as the best place to visit and live in Canada (always top-ranked in North-America for both tourism and quality of life). I'll certainly go back to see more since the show starts with 3 tribes coming from 3 different places thru the streets and start the show on 3 scenes in a central place and then, they end up on the main stage where I was for this first series of 54 photos.

Français: Voici quelques photos du superbe événement de rue "Les Chemins Invisibles" offert par le Cirque du Soleil à Québec. Ce spectacle de 90 minutes a lieu dans les rues du centre-ville et sous l'autoroute dont certaines colonnes étaient déjà peintes par des artistes. Il s'agit d'un spectacle gratuit qui a lieu 5 soirs par semaine durant les étés de 2009 à 2013. Ce spectacle est fantastique et une raison supplémentaire d'apprécier Québec comme lameilleure ville à visiter ou vivre au Canada (toujours classée dans les sommets en Amérique du Nord pour le tourisme et la qualité de vie). Je veux y retourner car le spectacle débute avec 3 tribus qui partent de 3 endroits différents et marchent dans les rues pour converger vers la place centrale où se situent 3 scènes, le tout se terminant sur la scène principale (où j'étais pour cette première série de 54 photos).

English: These photographs were taken during a short one-day trip from Las Vegas. This area is very unique and impressive: the salt bed below the sea level, the numerous colors of soil, the very dry environment, sand dunes, etc. It was a day of strong winds warnings, which created very special effects when the sun was setting over the sand dunes during a sand storm. In particular, take a look to the way the sun looks through the sand dust (very tough for my camera !).

Français: ces photographies furent prises lors d'un court voyage d'une journée depuis Las Vegas. Cette région est vraiment unique et impressionnante: la mer de sel plus basse que le niveau des mers, les couleurs variables des sols, le milieu aride, les dunes de sable, etc. Comme c'était une journée forte en vents, avec avertissements météo à ce sujet, cela a donné des effets uniques lors du coucher de soleil au-dessus des dunes du désert en pleine tempête de sable. En particulier, regardez l'aspect du soleil au travers des poussières de sable (et ce fut difficile pour ma caméra!).
